Maintenance Mechanic II

The Maintenance Mechanic “2” position derives his/her authority from the Facilities Supervisor and is directly accountable to him/her.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist in Repairing and modifying production equipment and facility equipment.
Performing preventive maintenance tasks as per the preventive maintenance program.
Ability to Identifying parts required for repairs and modifications.
Preparing paperwork required for ordering parts.
Duties
With some supervision, guidance, direction, or instruction, the Maintenance Mechanic “2” will perform the following duties within his or her areas of expertise as described in section Minimum Qualifications.
Assist in Troubleshooting problems in complex electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment; then recommend and effect the appropriate repair.
Remove, disassemble, repair, and reassemble components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
1 year experience Knowledge and experience in working with electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic machinery.
1 year experience and knowledge in metal frameworks by welding as well as using standard industrial fasteners.
Some Fabrication in tubing and piping systems in various materials, including PVC, CPVC, stainless steel, copper, and flexible materials. Use various connection methods including welding, soldering, pipe threads, and other flanged, ferruled, and gasketed methods.
Assist level “3” in Fabricating sheet metal duct work and assemblies.
Determine appropriate wire size, design conduit runs, bend and form conduit, pull wires, install electrical panels, fixtures, breakers, relays.
Install, test, repair, and modify machinery and equipment.
Research vendor literature, determine appropriate part numbers and quantities required, and prepare purchase requisitions to acquire parts for effecting repairs and preventive maintenance.
Test fire sprinkler system.
Test, repair, and modify telephone system.
Test, repair, and modify alarm system.
Replace bulbs and ballasts.
Install and repair office furniture, including partition walls.
Install and repair locks.
Perform routine preventive maintenance.
Perform painting, carpentry, and drywall projects.
Move furniture, materials, and equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Safely utilize hand tools, portable power tools, and fixed shop power tools.
Train less-skilled personnel.
Run errands as directed by supervisor or departmental manager using a company vehicle.
Perform other tasks as requested by management.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma.
Read, write, and speak English.
Supply own trade tools and tool box.
2 years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Strong familiarity with codes, standards, and accepted practices within the areas of expertise described.
Ability to read and interpret complicated plans and drawing within the areas of expertise described in
The Maintenance Mechanic “2” must demonstrate a basic of competency in at least four of the following trade skills:
plumbing
electrical
welding
sheet metal fabrication
mechanical repair
HVAC
architectural modification and repair (painting, carpentry, drywall, etc.)
One time sign-on bonus of $1,000.00 payable after successful completion of probationary period
